Three Sizes for Your Needs
Wondering which Volvo SUV to choose? One of the main distinctions between the three is their size: the XC40 is the smallest, the XC90 is a massive mid-size SUV, while the XC60 fills the compact SUV spot in between.
The Volvo XC90 is primarily aimed at large families with its 7-seat cabin and spacious interior. It has a cargo capacity of up to 1,855 liters with the seats down and a towing capacity of 4,960 lbs. See how the three compare in terms of space and maximum capacity:

Thermal, Hybrid or Electric?
Regardless of the powertrain which appeals to you the most, the Volvo SUV lineup offers powerful options. Here are the powertrains available:
- Lightly hybridized internal combustion engines with the B4, B5 and B6
- Plug-in hybrids with the T8
- An electric motor named P8
The B4 and B5 are the two options for the gasoline-powered XC40, allowing it to develop 197 or 250 horsepower respectively.
The electric XC40 is the only one of the three to be equipped with the P8, which gives it 408 horsepower and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.9 seconds. With a 78-kWh battery, the Volvo XC40 Recharge offers a range of 359 km. The new C40 electric car is also equipped with this engine.
The two larger SUVs are available with a B6 engine (300 horsepower) or with the T8 plug-in hybrid, which gives them an impressive 462 horsepower.
With all SUVs, you get standard all-wheel drive for a solid ride in all conditions. In the Volvo Electric, this traction is provided by two electric motors.
So, whichever model you select, you can have a mildly hybrid option or a powerful, more fuel-efficient electrified version.
Intuitive Technologies with Google Integration
When it comes to connectivity, Volvo builds on features that are familiar to consumers by integrating Google Services. Google Maps helps you navigate, while the Google Assistant responds to your requests by voice command. You can also download applications from the Google Play Store.
Éric LeFrançois, journalist for L'Annuel de l'automobile, stated in his review of the Volvo XC60 2022:
“The integration of the multifunction screen in the center of the dashboard is undoubtedly
one of the most user-friendly and aesthetically successful in the entire automotive industry.”
The Bluetooth connection as well as the charging tray also give you a wireless experience. Of course, the higher-end versions add technologies such as premium audio systems (Harman Kardon or Bowers & Wilkins, depending on the model).
